FAQs

WHAT IS SCREEN PRINTING

Screen printing is a printing method where ink is forced through a mesh screen onto a substrate, creating a design or image. A stencil is made on the screen to block certain areas from allowing ink to pass through. Ink is then applied to the screen, and a squeegee is used to push the ink through the open areas onto the substrate. This technique is versatile and can be used on a variety of materials, including textiles, paper, ceramics, and more.

WHAT DO I NEED TO DO SCREEN PRINTING AT HOME?

To screen print at home, you'll need the following basic equipment:

A screen: This is the mesh frame that holds the stencil. Screens can be made of various materials like polyester or nylon, with different mesh counts depending on the desired detail.
A stencil: This is a template that blocks certain areas of the screen from allowing ink to pass through. Stencils can be made using a variety of methods, including hand-cutting, film positives, or emulsion.
Ink: Screen printing ink is specially formulated for use with screens. It's available in a wide range of colors and types, including plastisol, water-based, and discharge.
A squeegee: This is a rubber or plastic tool used to force ink through the screen onto the substrate.
A printing table: This is a flat surface where you can place your substrate and screen for printing.
A drying rack: This is used to dry the printed items after they've been inked.
A substrate: This is the material you'll be printing on, such as fabric, paper, or ceramics.
